Meet Lisa, the creator behind the brand.

Born and raised in Calgary, Lisa’s passion for functional spaces started at a young age. Growing up in a house with five kids and two adults made for a great canvas to practice utilizing space.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Lisa transformed her lifelong passion into a career, founding Functional Designs Co. in 2009. Her Calgary-based firm has become known for creating functional spaces that stand the test of time.

Lisa’s design philosophy centres on balance - blending creativity and practicality to craft interiors that feel intentional, cohesive, and deeply personal. From new builds to complete home transformations and even styling/staging and art placement, she approaches every project with thoughtful precision and a genuine commitment to her clients’ vision.
